Hope you have a great weekend.

Last Sunday, I went mountain walking with friends to the nearby waterfalls, very close indeed to high peaks of the Pyrenees. It was so refreshing, a holiday really!

This issue is about women and children.
Well, women do wear many hats in the home! And they go out to work (or work from home) these days.

I remember hearing that men cannot put their attention to more than one thing at a time, but women could. The root of this would be that in previous times, men’s role was purely to hunt, while women’s was cooking, cleaning, looking after the children… well, has much changed? Still multi-tasking!

They (I) have to take care though as our response to stress is more emotional and therefore has more consequences.

This may (or may not!) sound strange but do you realise that our decisions are often made, not through simply looking at the facts of a situation but through 'the eyes of the past', ie unconscious memories based on pain and conflict?

I have noticed that people who've been very close to their mother in childhood and have had a strong maternal support feel more secure in themselves. They've been given the assurance of ongoinglove and this simple grounding has fed them through the years.

This issue is a physical one! Dance, Yoga and... Yoga, and...Dance!
What's better to let the body enjoy the summer freedom and relieve stress of course?!

Well, on my side, most days I stretch my body a little, on the terrace - as I am lucky enough to have a big terrace from where I can see the mountain range of the Pyrenees in the distance - then some brisk self massage and then the Tai Chi form.

Must say, it does put me in shape to start the day. It takes around 20 to 25 minutes, well spent I feel.

I can only very passionately recommend dancing as stress relief!I have trained in Dance Meditation, that is dancing and expressing what one is in the moment with our body movements, together with the sound of the music of our choice. And letting the body move and change and improvise new movements...

Anyhow, Christy Matta tells us:
'Is it endorphins, mindfulness or simple fun? This month's Psychology Today reports that studies in both Germany and at the University of New England found that dance lowers levels of stress hormones and significantly lowers levels of depression.

According to Rosa Pinniger, an Honors student in psychology at the University of New England, and organizer of a "Tango trial," learning tango requires you to focus attention and be fully present in the moment, much like the practice of mindfulness.'

Yes, definitely worth starting a class even as a beginner.Put aside all your pre-conceptions that you are not a 'good artist', you 'can't draw', etc. and enrol in a class. Discover that you don't need to know anything (it's in fact better sometimes not to!) to open up your creativity.
This will help change your mind set and plunge you into the 'artist' buried deep inside. What a relief and gift you will find!

For years, John Peters of Mentor taught watercolor painting.A recent illness robbed him of his desire to paint for a time, however.

In order to get enthused again, he signed up for a mixed media class with a former instructor, Dorothy "Dottie" Geisert, at Wildwood Cultural Center in Mentor.

"There's a lot of personal satisfaction when you have a good painting," he said.

'From local community arts centers to the county metroparks, such opportunities abound for adults in this area, offering myriad avenues for creative expression as well as ways to soothe the soul, or even make some extra money.
Matt Orgovan, a 34-year-old Mentor resident, has noticed a trend in the arts as a career.'

The Telegraph ( or at least David Williams) advises us to de-stress by riding a motorbike. Possibly, whether in town or in the country,there is a feeling of freedom and immediacy in riding a bike. No more falling asleep at the wheel in the traffic! And in the countryside, feeling the elements such as the wind, the sun and the...rain (!) can be exhilarating!
"Want to de-stress your motoring life? Then swap your car for amotorcycle and make the most of the open road."
That's according to the results of a new survey by Motorcycle News, which interviewed 3,000 motorists to coincide with National Ride to
Work Day (which took place on July 21).
